Captain
- Does the boat come with a captain to run the boat for us? Yes.
- I have boating experience and would like to rent the boat without one of your approved captains. What is the procedure for me to be the Captain? The boat is a large investment for our company and we have strict standards for certifying captains. Please send us an email listing your captain license credentials and/or other maritime certificates. Also, include a detailed list of waters upon which you have experience, including sea days for each including the tonnage of each vessel. Please attach to the email copies of your credentials. Allow 4 weeks for review.
- We need someone to operate the boat for us. Can you recommend someone? Yes, the contact information for the approved captains will be on your receipt.
What
- What is the itinerary? You are renting the entire boat and it is entirely your decision.
- What are my choices for things to do? Swimming / Collecting sea shells / Exploring beaches and sand bars accessible only by boat / Dolphin watching / Cruising the creeks and rivers to take in the beautiful natural world / Cruising the creeks and rivers to check out the opulent homes / Cruise Charleston Harbor
- Will we see dolphins? Just like the residents of the Lowcountry, the dolphins are very accommodating and we will come across a pod of dolphins at some point on the trip.
- Can we bring food / drinks? BYOB. You can bring whatever food and acoholic or other drinks with you on the boat. We are happy to provide a cooler for you to use... you provide the ice and everything else.
- Will we go in the ocean / will the waves be big? We stay inside the creeks and rivers and do not go out into the ocean so there may be some small waves similar to what you see on lakes. If the tide is right, we can pull up on sandbars and you can walk across to play in the waves on the ocean side.
- Can we tube behind the boat? Yes! Please indicate that you want to tube when you make your reservation. This is mainly for the kids, nice and slow and safe.
- Can we go to Fort Sumter? No, the National Park Service has contracted with certain vendors to provide this service. However, we can take you to see the fort from the water.
- Can we fish? If you would like to bring a rod and soak a bait while we are at the beach or other spot, you are more than welcome to do this. However we do not provide tackle or baits and if you are looking to just fish there are other boats that specialize in that.
- Is there any shady / sunny spot on the boat? Yes, we have a bimini top that covers over half the length of the boat.
- How can I get in and out of the boat if I go swimming / walk on the beach? The boat has ladders on both the front and rear to make it easy for kids (and adults) of all ages to get in and out of the boat.
- Can I bring children? Yes! From infant on up, bring the whole clan. Since this is your trip we can go as fast or slow as you like and accommodate any parent’s needs. We have all sizes of life jackets from infant on up.
- Do you have life jackets? Yes, we provide life jackets for all passengers. If you would like one to wear, just ask the captain and he will get it out for you.
- What should we bring? Suntan lotion / Hat / Drinks / Some snacks or food / Cooler / Towels / A zip lock to keep your phone and keys dry / Warm clothes for the cooler days…keep in mind that it can be a little chilly on the water in the spring time (through the end of May)
- What happened to the old boat with the water slide? That boat was returned to the lake where it belonged. It was not cutout for a coastal life.
- What is the cancellation policy? Guest will receive a full refund for the charter including all deposits when it is determined by us that it is too windy or too rainy for a pleasurable trip.
- It is raining but the charter has not been cancelled, why? Many of our summertime storms come and go quickly. Our customers look forward to their day on the water and we do not want to needlessly cancel a trip.
- What if we have an emergency / get snowed in / an alligator eats the car keys and we need to cancel? Cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance will receive a refund for everything but the $100 deposit per booking. There are no refunds and you will be charged the full cost of the trip for cancellations less than 24 hours prior to the rental.
